Weight loss surgery

Weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery, is performed on patients with obesity. There are several types of bariatric procedures, but all focus on making modifications to the digestive system with the goal of significant weight loss.

Surgical weight loss services we provide

There are several types of weight loss procedures. All are intended to modify the digestive system with the goal of helping you achieve significant, sustained weight loss.

Gastric bypass

Gastric bypass helps you lose weight by restricting the amount of food that your stomach can hold and by reducing the number of calories your body can absorb. Also known as Roux en-Y gastric bypass, this procedure creates a small stomach pouch and reroutes part of the small intestine. Many consider gastric bypass to offer the best possible outcomes of all the available weight loss procedures.

Sleeve gastrectomy

A sleeve gastrectomy, which is more commonly known as the “sleeve” procedure, removes the hormonally active part of the stomach. This causes the remaining tubular segment to restrict the amount of food it takes to feel full.

Gastric band

During the gastric band procedure, doctors place a silicone ring around the upper stomach. By doing so, they can adjust the fit of the band over time to allow you to feel a sense of fullness with less food. Unlike certain other bariatric procedures, the gastric band procedure is completely reversible.

Revisional surgery

Doctors may have to perform revisional weight loss surgery if there is not enough weight loss over time, or if problems occur after the original surgery.
